White-lipped pythons are like Blood pythons from Indonesia, both species sometimes even share the same habitats. But the White-lipped python is more a tree-living snake, so that they will hardly meet in nature. The shimmering golden animals with the black head and the name-giving white lips are very slim and very agile animals that can reach an amazing speed. It´s said that the White-lipped python has quite an aggressive character and not all of that can be negated, but individuals who were handeled regularly from the beginning are significantly more peaceful. However, this is an animal for more experienced owners who like to maintain such an elegant snake. White-lipped pythons can reach a length of two meters and need because of their high activity relatively large terrariums. However, it is even more important to provide lots of hiding places – this also ensures a little calmer mood. My terrariums are absolutely stuffed with plastic plants, cork bark and flower pots. So I can work quite properly in the terrarium, without disturbing the animal immediately. Without a permanently high humidity of about 70–80 % and a water bowl, the animals shed their skin very badly. I have a group of one male and two not related females, of course all captive bred.
