| Borneo python (Python breitensteini) |
|
The Borneo python or Borneo short-tailed python is closely related to the Blood python, its size and handling is identical. But Borneo pythons usually come from the Island of Borneo (kept specimens usually from West Borneo), although there are hardly any imports of animals anymore, since there are plenty of captive-bred offsprings. Red colours are very rare with Borneo pythons, this type appears brighter and more yellow than the blood pythons. Animals with a slightly reddish on the head are certainly among the most beautiful individuals. For several years now, color and design morphs are also bred, some out of spontaneously occurring mutations in the breeding, others out of wild-caught animals or by selection. I own next to the naturally colored P. breitensteini also some Super-stripeds and a Reverse-striped, which seems to be a new mutation.
